Last weekend was maybe the most beautiful weekend of the summer in the Twin Cities. It was also my birthday weekend. Saturday was also the day to drop off baking entries to the State Fairgrounds. The line was like three hours last year. I didn’t get a ribbon. Faced with that line again (I heard it was the longest ever!), or checking out this natural swimming pool I’d heard about, it seemed like a no-brainer, as summer is dwindling. It was decided when I went to pick up my favorite sandwich at Clancey’s, and my friend that works there said, “Protect your peace.” I set off for the pool.

The Webber Natural Swimming Pool has been there since July 24, 2015, but I only just heard about it. It is the first (and maybe only?) natural swimming pool in America, with no chemicals used to treat it. No green hair from chlorine! I was excited.

The pool is located in North Minneapolis, and it’s an easy afternoon for anyone in the Metro area. Do know that there are a LOT of rules in order to keep this pool natural and swimmable. I parked by the tennis courts, and walked across the park to the pool area, which was surprisingly uncrowded for such a beautiful day.

The teens who were working were VERY serious, like I almost laughed. They give you the whole spiel about how there is NO FOOD OR BEVERAGE BUT WATER allowed, and they will search your bags to make sure you have no snack contraband. The no glass part is obvious, but not being able to eat my sandwich felt a bit rigid. Shrug. Whatever. Back it went to the car. Drag.
